A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury caused by a hit to the head or body resulting in temporary loss of normal brain function. The effects are usually temporary but can include headaches and problems with concentration, memory, balance and coordination.
A thorough assessment and the right treatment approach can help patients and athletes safely recover from a concussion. Although rest is important, it is no longer considered the best approach to concussion care. Too much rest can contribute to worsening a patient’s condition. By incorporating a concussion management program in conjunction with rest, it can assist in patients and athletes safely returning to school, work or sport.
College Chiropractic and Sports Clinic is certified to provide evidence-based concussion management through the Complete Concussion Management Inc program.
